John’s parents always tried to provide the best for him, including with his soccer league and coach. John loved soccer and was pretty decent at the sport. Plus, his coach always listened when John expressed the pressures of his home life – being the youngest of four while his parents were on the path to divorce.
John’s coach – who was in a position of authority and was a significant influence in John’s life – methodically groomed him and sexually abused him for over a year. John eventually quit soccer to get away from his coach but wasn’t able to tell a safe adult for years. He didn’t think anyone would believe him.
Today John is an avid supporter of DCAC and volunteers on a regular basis.
