Cathy has been the Prevention Program Manager at DCAC for five years. In this role, she works to increase safety knowledge and decrease risk of child abuse through the coordination, development and implementation of prevention services for children, families and teachers in Denver Public Schools. Cathy is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with extensive experience working with child and adolescent survivors of sexual abuse and trauma. She also specializes in working with children who have special needs or severe emotional disturbances, as well as with youth caught up in the criminal justice system. While pursuing her master’s degree at Pepperdine University, Cathy worked as an intake specialist and therapist in Southern California, where she gained expertise in crisis management and meeting the immediate needs of mothers and children traumatized by violence. Cathy earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Davis.
