Kayla Galvez is a Family Advocate at the Denver Children’s Advocacy Center, where she provides compassionate, trauma-informed support to children and families navigating the aftermath of abuse and violence. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Kayla is committed to ensuring families can access services in the language they feel most comfortable using. As a proud Latina, Kayla’s Honduran heritage is a central part of her identity. She spent much of her childhood there, strengthening family connections and developing a deep appreciation for her culture and heritage, which continues to inform her work with diverse communities.
Kayla earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2023. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology at Arizona State University, furthering her knowledge of trauma, victimization, and evidence-based advocacy practices. Before joining the Denver Children’s Advocacy Center, Kayla worked at the Rose Andom Center, supporting individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and other forms of victimization by connecting them with advocacy, resources, and community services. She also serves as an on-call Victim Advocate with the Glendale Police Department, providing crisis intervention and support to victims during traumatic incidents.
Kayla is passionate about empowering survivors and helping them feel heard, supported, and connected throughout the healing process. She is especially dedicated to multidisciplinary and community-based approaches that promote safety, justice, and hope for children and families impacted by violence and trauma. She is honored to serve the Colorado community she calls home.
