Hope in Action: DCAC’s 2025 Impact

DCAC’s 2025 Impact

When people ask what Denver Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) does, the answer is both simple and profound: we help children and families heal from trauma and move toward hope.

In 2025, that mission reached thousands across our community.

13,076 children, caregivers, and community members were impacted through DCAC services, prevention programs, mental health consultation, and training.

But numbers alone don’t tell the story. Behind every statistic is a child finding safety. A caregiver finding support. A professional learning how to better protect children.

Together, these moments create lasting change.

Direct Services: Supporting Children Through Trauma

In 2025, DCAC provided direct services to 1,217 clients and 1,194 caregivers through forensic interviews, therapy, victim advocacy, and case management.

Treatment & Healing

  • 624 children and caregivers received trauma-focused therapy
  • 4,796 therapy sessions delivered
  • 8,029 case management sessions provided

Nearly half of the children in treatment were healing from sexual abuse, while others were impacted by physical abuse, domestic violence, homicide, and other traumatic experiences.

Children ages 7–12 represented the largest group served – a critical developmental stage where intervention can change the trajectory of a child’s life.

Importantly, services were provided in both English and Spanish to ensure families could access care in the language they are most comfortable using.

Forensic Interviews & Advocacy: A Critical First Step

DCAC conducted 740 forensic interviews in 2025 – compassionate, child-centered conversations that reduce trauma while gathering essential information for investigations.

Alongside those interviews, advocates provided 5,910 victim advocacy sessions, helping families navigate complex systems including law enforcement, medical care, and legal processes.

Nearly half of forensic interviews involved allegations of sexual abuse, underscoring the ongoing need for specialized services for children experiencing exploitation and violence.

Prevention: Reaching Children Before Harm Happens

Prevention remains one of the most powerful ways to protect children.

In 2025, DCAC prevention programs reached:

  • 4,771 children
  • 588 caregivers
  • 377 educators and school staff
  • Across 19 schools and 206 classrooms

These programs equip children with safety skills, empower trusted adults, and strengthen community awareness – creating safer environments before abuse occurs.

Supporting the Adults Who Support Children

DCAC also strengthened the broader safety net around children through training and consultation:

  • 522 children supported through Mental Health Consultation programs
  • 396 adults (teachers, caregivers, community providers) received guidance
  • 64 professional trainings delivered to 3,902 participants

By equipping professionals with trauma-informed tools, DCAC expands its impact far beyond our walls.

A Community That Reflects Denver

The families served by DCAC reflect the diversity of our region.

Nearly half of direct service clients identified as Hispanic/Latino, with representation across racial and ethnic backgrounds. Families came primarily from Denver, but also from Adams, Arapahoe, Jefferson, and surrounding counties.

This diversity reinforces the importance of culturally responsive, accessible services – and the need for continued community investment.

The Bigger Picture

Numbers matter because they help us understand scale.

But what matters most is what those numbers represent:

  • A child sleeping through the night again
  • A caregiver feeling supported
  • A teacher recognizing warning signs sooner
  • A community becoming safer for children

Every service delivered is a step toward healing.

You Make This Possible

None of this work happens alone.

Support from donors, partners, volunteers, and community members makes it possible for children to receive care regardless of their family’s ability to pay.

When you invest in DCAC, you invest in safety, healing, and hope.
