Youth Clubs Gearing Up for Summer!

DCAC’s outreach team has a full lineup of youth clubs planned for the summer. The clubs are safe, welcoming places where clients and community members of all ages can come together to learn, connect, play, and grow.

  • Garden Club, Mondays starting June 16th: Planting day is May 12th with Garden Club officially starting June 16th and meeting every Monday from 4:30- 6pm until August (and then every other week into October). Up to 20 kids ages 4-10 participate in Garden Club every year. “We love the inherent healing nature of the garden–that being outside, using our hands, and watching our effort have taken effect is a perfect way to let kids be kids and experience their own capacity,” said Katt Lovejoy, DCAC Bilingual Community Connector and Garden Club leader. “We also LOVE watching a kiddo pull a vegetable out of the ground and have their face light up.”
  • Adventure Kids, Tuesdays starting June 10th: DCAC’s Adventure Kids will take place from June 10th through July 15th. This group offers a meaningful opportunity for children to engage in enriching activities, build supportive relationships, and create lasting memories together. Adventure Kids meets on Tuesdays from 4:30-6 pm with up to 20 children participating per session. Last summer, the group had a successful field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. “We look forward to offering even more opportunities for exploration, including additional field trips and experiences designed to foster connection, curiosity, and joy,” said Julia Urbina, DCAC Bilingual Prevention Specialist and Adventure Kids group leader.
  • The Art Group at DCAC, Wednesdays starting June 18th: The Creative Kids spring session will wrap up on May 14th with a joyful Picnic Art Show, where families can celebrate all the amazing work our young artists have created. The summer session kicks off on June 18th with the Annual Paint Fight—a colorful, messy, and unforgettable tradition! Art Group meets on Wednesdays from 4:30-6 pm with roughly 15–20 participants this summer ranging in ages 8–14 (and even young artists as young as 5 are welcome to join with parent supervision). “The Art Group at DCAC continues to be a vibrant, safe, and inspiring space where clients and community members of all ages explore their creativity through a wide variety of artistic activities.” said Marlen Montanez, Community Mental Health Coordinator and Art Group leader.
  • NEW!Boys Club, Thursdays starting June 19th: Boys Club is all about building connection, confidence, and a sense of adventure. Through hands-on experiences and shared moments, boys ages 8-14 will have the chance to explore who they are and what they’re capable of—while having fun along the way. This summer’s activities will include podcasting and wilderness and environmental learning (including fire making, nature skills, and discussions on how we interact with the environment). The club meets on Thursdays (June 19-July 31) from 4:30-6pm. “I am probably most looking forward to offering a consistent space for boys to explore new interests, develop practical skills, and build meaningful connections,” said Nick Stone, DCAC Community Engagement Liaison and Boys Club Leader.
